According to El Mundo, the Portuguese was obsessed with the Argentine`s salary for several years while playing for Real Madrid.


This question occupied Ronaldo so much that he decided to find out the answer from the then Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu.


Cristiano and his agent Jorge Mendes met Bartomeu at one of the award ceremonies, where Ronaldo asked the head of the Blaugrana how much Messi earns.

Soon after this, Ronaldo left Real Madrid. This happened in 2018.
